VISIT NADI AND FIJI

ABOUT

If you are planning to visit Nadi and explore Fiji, read more about it before you go!

While Nadi is not the capital of Fiji, it is often referred to as the gateway to Fiji due to the international airport there. Fiji is actually made up of over 300 islands and is recognised worldwide for its sandy beaches, palm-trees and lagoons.

The three main languages spoken in Fiji are Fijian, English and Hindi and over 900,000 people live in Fiji.

CLIMATE

Fiji has the perfect climate for relaxing beach holidays. It is generally warm all year round and has average temperatures of approximately 26 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.

Wet season is from about November to April, and it is generally warm and humid at this time of year too. However, the showers are generally short and should still allow plenty of sunshine!

CURRENCY

Fiji uses the Fijian Dollar. ATMs are common in cities, however not in the rural areas, so be sure to have cash with you if you are heading further afield. There is often a credit card charge to use your card.

WHAT TO BRING

Fiji has a warm, tropical climate, so we recommend packing for summery conditions. Take cool clothing for warm days, as well as a hat, sunscreen and bug repellant.

If you are visiting in the rainy season, consider taking an umbrella or rain jacket, or buy one while you are there.

THINGS TO DO IN NADI

GARDEN OF THE SLEEPING GIANT

The Garden of the Sleeping Giant showcases an incredible collection of orchids, as well as beautifully landscaped gardens. Take a jungle walk through the 20 acre gardens, past ponds, flowers and more.

For a peaceful and relaxing trip through nature, this is one to add to your list. The gardens are located about 30 minutes from Nadi.

ZIPLINING/ABSEILING/CAVES

Take a zip line canopy tour, go abseiling or explore the caves close to Nadi. If you go ziplining, you will soar through the canopies, or choose abseiling and descend 100 metres down into the Tau Caves.

This is an experience like no other and is an incredible way to see the rainforests of Fiji.

SABETO AND TIFAJEK HOT SPRINGS

Take a dip into some of Fiji’s natural treasures. Located side by side, the Sabeto and Tifajek mud pools are also close to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant.

You cover yourself in mud – said to be a therapeutic experience – and lay in the sun until the mud is dry. To wash it off, you bathe in a hot spring and another pool.

A unique opportunity? Definitely!
